Dad's lullaby

Writer's picture: Sheena at PlaysongsSheena at Playsongs

flock of sheep to count to sleep

A dad's lullaby specially written by Sandra Kerr as a gift to dads, taking their share of the night shift. Sandra’s words and melody are flavoured by Northumberland, where she has lived, sung and taught the skills of folk music for many decades.

Dad's lullaby is sung for us by Leon Rosselson. Listen to it along with all the other Sleepytime Playsongs ~ track 28. Here's the first verse:

On my shoulder lay your head,

You’re the best little baby

a body ever had,

Time I was with your mam in bed,

Not a peep, count sheep,

Go to sleep for your dad.
